Privacy Policy
Your information deserves care.
This policy explains how Befriend Your Brain collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal and health information.
Befriend Your Brain (ABN 65 122 923 341) respects your privacy and handles personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect and why
We collect your name, contact details, health and personal information, and appointment and payment details so we can provide psychological services, keep accurate records, and meet our legal and professional obligations.
Through this website, we collect only the information you choose to submit in an enquiry form. This website does not currently use an analytics or cookie-tracking service.
How we keep it safe
Your information is held in secure systems, including Halaxy, Zoom, and Google Workspace. Some of these providers may store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States.
In line with applicable NSW health-records law, we keep adult client records for at least seven years from the last occasion a health service was provided. Records collected while a client was under 18 are kept until that person reaches 25 years of age.
Confidentiality
We keep your information confidential. We only share it with your consent, where the law requires it, or where disclosure is necessary to lessen or prevent a serious threat to someone’s life, health, or safety. These limits are explained fully in your consent form.
Your rights
You can ask to access or correct the information we hold about you by emailing hello@befriendyourbrain.com.au.
Contact us
We welcome questions, feedback, or complaints about how your information is handled. Please email hello@befriendyourbrain.com.au. We will consider your concern and respond within a reasonable period.
If you are dissatisfied with our response or wish to escalate a privacy concern, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. Concerns about a psychologist’s professional conduct may be raised with the Psychology Board of Australia or AHPRA.
