Services · Parent & caregiver support

Support for the people supporting neurodivergent children.

A collaborative space for understanding your child’s needs while caring for your own capacity and wellbeing.

Parent & caregiver support

Parenting neurodivergent brains, sometimes (mm-hm, often) with a neurodivergent brain of your own.

Many parents and caregivers are navigating family life alongside their own neurodivergence, or are parenting a neurodivergent child, teenager, or family member. This work can include managing sensory load, energy, and emotional regulation while caring for others, or finding approaches that genuinely fit a child’s needs rather than a generic script.

The focus is on building capacity and self-compassion, not measuring yourself or your child against a neurotypical standard. Together, we can develop a shared understanding of what is happening, identify practical supports, and find approaches that fit your family’s values and circumstances.

  • Understanding behaviour through a neuroaffirming lens
  • Supporting emotional regulation and reducing overwhelm
  • Navigating transitions, school, and family routines
  • Balancing a child’s needs with caregiver capacity
  • Building connection, communication, and self-compassion

Finding the right fit

Which support is right for me?

Not sure where to start? Here’s one way to think about it.

01

Therapy for your child or teen

Sessions focus on your child’s goals, such as understanding their emotions, working with anxiety, and making sense of themselves. Parents are involved throughout, with the young person’s consent and in a way that suits their age and needs, including at intake, through regular check-ins, and when developing strategies for home. These sessions remain part of your child’s therapy.

02

Support for you as a parent or caregiver

These sessions focus on you. If you’re neurodivergent yourself, parenting can place real demands on your sensory system, energy, executive functioning, and emotional capacity. They are also for any parent or caregiver feeling worn down or burnt out, not only by the practical load of supporting a neurodivergent child, but by the unrealistic expectations often placed on neurodivergent families. These are your own sessions, with your own file; your child is not the client.

Wondering whether you or your child may be neurodivergent?

A neuroaffirming assessment can offer a clearer understanding of your or your child’s strengths, needs, and way of experiencing the world.
